Garden Update: GREEN

 Ok – now that the gardens are starting to come in, I finally have a post full of green photos to share instead of just some dirt.  Already most of the seeds are starting to peak through the dirt, and the cold season crops are looking bigger by the day.  Of course there have been a few seeds that haven’t germinated as well, but overall everything is coming in.  So get ready for a whole slew of photos!

The photos above are all from the overgrown existing raised beds on the property.  We used the lasagna method this fall to reduce the weeds and raise them up a few more inches.

The photo below is my ‘manure’ garden.  An old manure/compost pile that I flattened and made into a series of raised beds with narrow paths between them.

Hmmm… is the photo below from an alien invasion or our attempt at making a sunflower house for the kids?

Amidst our scramble to get our vegetable and fruit patches in this year, we are appreciating the established perennial beds that were already here.  Most of them require just a bit of weeding but will soon be full of peonies!
