The Backyard Farming Connection #49

Wow - it's getting cold out there.  Already the nights are dipping into the 30's and we've had our first morning of frost on the ground.  We spent the week laying gardens for next year and putting up the never ending fencing!

I want to know what's happening, in your garden, on your homestead, in the barnyard, and in the kitchen.  Whatever is in your backyard farm and home, I would love to hear about it.

Each week I will share some of my favorite posts on the Backyard Farming Connection Facebook page.  And in case you haven't seen, I have a 'featured button' so if you've been featured in the past, grab a button.

The Backyard Farming Connection Hop #48

We're finally digging out from under the boxes from our move to NH and are finding a little time to get outside and check out the overgrown garden beds.  Already I'm envisioning next year's garden bursting with the harvest, but for now we're putting those moving boxes to good use prepping the gardens with the lasagna method.

The Backyard Farming Connection Hop #47

The cooler temperatures here are reminding me that the transition to fall is well underway.  Already I can feel myself hunkering down a bit and deciding what needs to happen before winter sets in.  We already have new plans for our new backyard farm, but now it's time to decide what needs to happen now and what can wait until next year.

This week's feature's are two things we've been thinking about this year: creating a no till garden and building a farmhouse table.

The Backyard Farming Connection Hop #46

We are slowly settling in to our new home - I always underestimate how long it takes to move.  Making the move with 3 little ones and a bunch of animals doesn't make it easier.  There has been a lot of heavy lifting, some escaped goats, plenty of helpers, and one bee sting.  I can't wait to share more about or new place in the coming weeks.

Here are this week's features!
